Elias Adestam showed that he continues to develop rapidly in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia when he drove home his best result of the season in his comeback to the championship at the grand final weekend at Mantorp Park.

Adestam went into this weekend’s final with tough conditions after being forced to sit out the previous three heats over the summer, but quickly found his way back into the running and was just half a second off pole position in Friday’s qualifying.

After an eighth place in the first of Saturday’s two final heats, 18-year-old Adestam was then able to finish as a fine sixth in Race 2 – the Nacka son’s best result during a rough debut season in Swedish racing’s most prestigious racing class.

Adestam’s fastest lap in the final heat was just a tenth slower than race winner Daniel Roos and six-time Carrera Cup champion Lukas Sundahl, who finished second.

– Very fun to be back in the Carrera Cup here at Mantorp Park and to experience the folk festival Grande Finale together with Porsche, says Elias Adestam. I am very happy with the driving here this weekend. I haven’t been in a race car since June, didn’t have the opportunity to run any new tires in practice, but still got a respectable time in qualifying and two good races with really good speed especially the last one. This was exactly the kind of message I wanted this weekend.

Elias Adestam is the reigning Swedish junior racing champion after, almost to the day a year ago, winning the electric touring car series NXT Gen Cup last season. In 2024, he has advanced to senior level and the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, which has official SM status.

For financial reasons, Adestam has not been able to do a full season, nor test before the race as the rest of the starting field does. In total, there have been three sub-competitions during the year: Anderstorp, Gelleråsen Arena and now the final at Mantorp Park. All have been carried out together with the experienced Carrera Cup team Mtech Competition.

– I have developed enormously during the races I have done this season, concludes Elias Adestam. This weekend was certainly a testament to that. In the first practice at the premiere in Anderstorp I was three seconds behind, and in the last race here I was actually the fastest on the track during the last laps. Many thanks to Mtech who did a great job with the car and guided me along the way.

– I have taken big steps, quickly, and that gives me a lot of motivation in the work ahead of next season. I really feel that I can be at the top of this championship. The goal is to be fully back and prove it in 2025.

During the final weekend at Mantorp Park, Elias Adestam also handed over the Ingemar Stenmark-inspired helmet that was auctioned off at the Feel for Life charity gala in Eskilstuna last week. The winning bid of SEK 35,000 (which will be donated to the Children’s Cancer Foundation in full) was made by Johan Östman, who was also invited to experience the Swedish racing final on site together with Adestam.
